What to Expect
when you visit
True Life Baptist Church
There are those who wonder what to expect when they visit True Life Baptist Church for the first time. Here are some things that will help you prepare for your first visit.
1. Guideline adherent. Covid-19 has made huge changes to our world. As a part of Alberta's re-opening stragety, we are complying with current recommended guidelines. This means that we are encouraging the use of hand sanitizer, which is available just inside our door. That also means that we are enforcing social distancing between individuals. We do not require masks, but if you would feel safer with a mask, you will not be shamed for that choice.
2. Friendly people. The people of True Life Baptist Church love to fellowship one with another as well as get to know those who chose to visit our services. We look forward to our services, so that we are able to spend time together in an atmosphere that honours Jesus Christ.
3. Soul-stirring hymns. (Our congregatinal singing is being postponed for the time being, due to COVID-19.) While many churches promote contemporary Christian music, True Life Baptist Church loves to sing from the hymnbook. We not only sing these hymns, but we sing them with our whole heart, accompanied by Pastor Jackson on his bass ukulele and his sons on their guitars. We also enjoy special music as the Lord provides.
4. Passionate, practical preaching of the Word of God. The song service is not the focal point of our services; instead, it is the preaching from the King James Bible. We encourage every individual to bring your Bible and follow along, so that you can see for yourself what it is that God has said. Pastor Jackson passionately preaches the truths of God's Word in a unique and practical manner, helping everyone understand what God is saying to each one of us. At the end of every service, we hold an invitation, where a closing hymn is played and people are encouraged to come to the altar in response to the message they have just heard from God.
5. Different services. On Sunday, our services are held at 2:30 and 4:00 PM. These services are not identical. We sing different songs, and we hear a different message from God's Word. Our 2:30 PM service is our "Sunday School" service, where we lay out the "why" and "how" of God's message to us. Our 4:00 PM service is our preaching service, where we explore the "what" of God's message to us. Our Tuesday night Bible Study, held at 7:00 PM, is exactly that. We spend time learning about one book of the Bible or another, so that we may show ourselves approved before God. We do not merely learn facts about the Bible, but dig into the practical applications of the Bible to our everyday living.
6. Dress code. True Life Baptist Church does not have a dress code for anyone who wishes to attend one of our services. We do believe that we should dress our best for the Lord, according to the teaching of Scripture, but we do not pressure anyone to dress a particular way.
