How to Have
True Life
Accept the fact that you have sinned.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God… (Romans 3:23)
By accepting the fact that you have sinned, you are recognizing that you have offended God by your attributes, attitudes, and actions. You are also acknowledging that your sin prevents you from meeting God's holy standard.

Realize that your sins will destroy your future.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (James 1:15)
Because your sin has caused you to fall short of God's holy standard, you will justly receive the wages of your sin: death. This death is much more than the death of your body; it is the "second death" that is eternal torment in the lake of fire.
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:14-15)

Understand that Jesus paid the wages of sin you have earned through His death, burial, and resurrection.
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God… (Hebrews 10:12)
The only way to escape the just payment of your sin is to make peace with God. There is nothing that you can do to reconcile with God, but Jesus came and did all that was necessary to erase your sin and bring peace with God!

Recognize that Jesus offers you abundant life today and forever.
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)
By His death burial and resurrection, Jesus has provided a path to be reconciled with God. As the end result of this reconciliation, you will receive abundant, eternal life.

Repent (CHANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT) Toward God and your sin and trust the sacrifice Jesus made.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out… (Acts 3:19)
You cannot continue to look at God as Someone you can ignore, nor can you look at your sin as "no big deal." Consider your sin from God's viewpoint. Your sin is terrible enough that God sent His only begotten Son to die for you!

Call on Jesus to forgive your sin.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
Call on the Lord Jesus in prayer! Prayer is simply talking to God. Tell Him that you know you are a sinner and that you deserve to pay your own sin debt. Acknowledge that Jesus died for you to pay the debt you owe, and that you trust Him as your Saviour. He will keep the promise He made in Romans 10:13 (above) and save you!
